We have a variety of ways to ship your purchase to you, depending on distance involved and the type of product. For U.S. 48-state purchases, we ship one of the following ways, or you may select your own transport method as best suits your needs:
 UPS:
Only items under the maximum size can be shipped United Parcel Service. This is generally limited to Windsor chairs no larger than a Bowback Sidechair and case goods that are nightstand-sized and smaller. We ship in 320 lb. Test corrugated and there is a charge to pack. As an example, a single Windsor chair shipping to the Midwest region will be $20.00 to carton and have a UPS charge of $18.00 (call or e-mail us or exact shipping prices).
Freight:
Also known as Truck, or Common Carrier. Sets of chairs and small to medium dining tables often ship most economically this way. We ship Freight Collect, which means you pay the carrier the actual shipping on your end. You can save money by shipping into a commercial business address (must be in a business or non-residential district); otherwise we will ship residential with 'call ahead' notification to make sure you are there when the truck arrives. Common carrier shipping is based on a minimum of 100 lb. rates, so you are paying to ship that first 100 lb. regardless if you have one chair or four. Carton charges apply to all items boxed for truck shipping as well. As an example, a set of (6) chairs (two arms, four sides) will cost 6 x $20 to pack = $120.00, then have a shipping charge into the Midwest of about $65.00 to a business, and $115.00 to a residence. We'll be glad to give you a quote for your order and area.
Blanket Wrap:
We use professional movers for large items and those that difficult to carton. Your pieces come to you via a professional moving team who will schedule and appointment with you and place your furniture purchase in your home as you direct. Always the best choice to minimize damage and eliminates unpacking and lifting on your part. Prices are 'per load' and will typically run $400.00 or so to ship a Highboy to the Midwest. Transit time frames will sometimes be a bit longer than UPS or Freight. Exact quotes are easy, just let us know the items you are interested in and where you live.
The Keeping Room Truck:
In the mid-Atlantic region, and parts of New England, we can deliver with our own truck. Rates are based on the dollar amount of the order if outside our normal delivery zone. $1,500 to 4,000: 8.0 % of the total order price $ 4,000 or more: 6.5% of the total order price, with a $650.00 maximum.
Sales Tax:
We do not collect Sales Tax on out-of-state shipments. Please check your local and state regulations for Sales and Use Tax obligations in your state. Sales tax is based upon where you, the customer, take possession of the goods. If coming to our store, regardless of your state of residence, you will be charged 4.5% Virginia Sales Tax on purchases being picked up at our store or warehouse facility.
International Shipping:
We have Freight Forwarders that can ship anywhere in the world and will be glad to arrange that for you. Duties, Customs and Tariffs (if any) will be your responsibility.
Self-Transport:
If you plan to stop by while on your trips to Washington D.C. and transport your own Keeping Room purchases, please remember to bring appropriate padding with you as all our furniture is 'bare'. Loaner pads are available with a $ 15.00 per pad deposit. We will assist in loading into your vehicle but you transport and load at your own risk of damage.
